Danna Beale, pastor’s wife from Wellspring Community Church in Alabama writes, “We have a young lady in our church right now who, along with her father, paid for half of our new sign (nearly two years without a significant visible one!) by taking a tier off her wedding cake price! :-) She is bubbling with energy about how learning to tithe is resulting in so many extra miracles in her life that she never expected. This kind of money-faith connection is contagious. Encourage people to keep prayer journals of God's blessings this way. It's so easy to forget.”

A few years ago we were going through a rough time financially. I shared the problem with a close friend. He was also a tither, as were we. He said, I am going to give an additional offering for you this Sunday...a gift to God for your financial blessing. Soon after that our fortunes changed. I am grateful for the blessing but even more for the friend. After that, I increases my tithe to 12% just to "prove God."

I remember reading about the late JC Penney who decided to give God back 90% an live on 10%. It was before he became the department store tycoon.

Giving back to God is a joyful thing. No matter what our circumstances.

From an email I received today - Pastor Brent

-My Dad taught me to tithe when my allowance was 50 cents. A cute "child thing" I remember doing was to get my 50 cents changed into nickels,
probably at the little grocery store in decent walking distance from our house. I would then fix my tithe envelopes for the future weeks. Then I
felt rich when I got to use the whole 50 cents. I kept clear records. Now that was 50 cents for two weeks. Daddy was paid twice a month. He always
tithed. Sometimes he would have to work overtime especially during the holidays and he always paid tithe on overtime. When I started working I
remember talking to him about whether I should tithe the gross or the net. I remember that he said that was a debatable issue but it was better to
overpay then underpay so he would advise paying on the gross.

Our family has always tithed. We have just come into some serious financial strain. However, in obedience, we will not only continue to tithe, but the leaders of our church, whom we trust, have asked us to tithe on our tithe--an extra 10%. We will do that, even though our entire tithe this month will have to be transferred out of what little savings we have.

From someone in our congregation:

Hi Pastor Brent,

I was able to attend Sunday Moring services, and was reminded by your message about my decision to tithe. I heard a message by a former Pastor about tithing, he stated that if you give your tithe money out of your check first, then you can sit back and watch God bless what is left, I have seen God do just that many, many times over the years and God continues to bless. If we step out on faith in God, then He by his nature is obligated to do what He said he would do, and He does.

My daddy was diagnosed with colon cancer when I was 9 and died two years later. My mother was always doing the best she could whether it was caring for sick people or cleaning houses. She always gave and tithed. Although she got a lot of our clothes at Goodwill and people from the church gave me second hand clothes we always looked fine. God provided. When my daddy got sick at Christmas and every year after at Christmas some one anonymously gave us a check for $100. That may not sound like a lot in our day, but it was 50 years ago. I still do not know where it came from, but I have always known that God watches over us and He said he would not see not righteous forsaken or begging for bread. Our God can meet our needs and when we turn it all over to Him He will make a way no matter what. Thank you for letting me share some old memories and truths that have stayed with me all these days later. I love our church and Pastor Brent you are doing a wonderful job. God Bless!
